In the kitchen
“The kitchen was a dream to cook in. Truly a cooks' kitchen. It had everything you could possibly need and more. Lots of dishes, good quality pots and pans. It also has an oven, plus a microwave. Big bonus was the washing machine with an outdoor area for hanging laundry.” J Miller – Ontario, Canada
For most of us, the kitchen is the heart of the home; it's also the heart of most travelers' home -away-from-home. A few years ago, a poll was taken and self catering villa renters were asked how many meals they prepare in their vacation. 83% said they cooked breakfast all the time; 54% cooked lunch and 51% cooked dinner about half the time. That's a lot of cooking going on!
At Villetta Mimma Vittoria this is what you can expect in our kitchen: From the Cabinet: pots and pans, large bowls, mixer, strainer, wine glasses, plastic storage containers From the Counter: coffeemaker, espresso maker, dish towels, potholders, placemats, sponges, dish soap From the Drawer: sharp knives, bottle openers, wire whisks, spatula, marinade brush, peeler, measuring cups/spoons, matches From the Pantry: spices, condiments, cooking oil, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, Note* You’ll need to bring ground coffee and coffee filters if you will be using the North American style Coffee maker.
In addition to a working kitchen our villa has the basic supplies and condiments that make cooking easier and more enjoyable. When we began renovating our villetta we polled prospective renters about the items they most wanted to find in a villa…
The basics: The owners stocked up the kitchen with flour, salt, pepper, a selection of other spices, cooking oil, etc. Other basics: napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, plastic bags, plastic storage containers, etc. The owners ask that if you replenish an item you’ve consumed as a courtesy for the next guest. Dinnerware, glassware (including wine glasses), and silverware—and there's enough for everyone; The villetta has electronic pest/bug sensors that helps keep unwanted pests away, however please clean up immediately after dining (this will help maintain the villetta pest and ant free). Note* Bring your own all purpose cookbook and recipes Upon your arrival at Villetta Mimma Vittoria you will find a refrigerator stocked with cold bottled water. At Villetta Mimma Vittoria we have a courtesy “Gift Basket" upon your arrival. These items should tide you over until you can get to the local store.
